I have started a new thing a Reader Writer Notebook. This is an MIT OCW Innovation and a fine one it is too. I am realising just how disengaged I am with the books on my list and the power of attraction in a volume e. g the concepts and thinking in Becker’s book and Becker in general*
The books I own and borrow are deep reads indeed. They cut into my very soul and expose the pain and abnormalities that lie in mine and Society’s core especially in academia**
Even though I don’t research my ‘research’ carries me to a depth of discovery that is frightening and Becker’s book is encouraging me on that quest.

Seventh Edition

2004

A book to work with, refer back to, work with and from, ‘Fields of Reading’ looks like providing me with much food for thought for writing tasks and training. Fields covers the four movements:ARGUING REPORTING EXPLAINING AND REFLECTING and puts them into the context of ‘Social Science and Public Affairs and Science and Technologies’ Truly a book for the MIT Community as Science and Technology weaves itself like a river throughout all MIT’s Curriculum.

I made myself a Exploring Self and Society Bookmark with the CORE TASKS: Arguing, Explaining, Reporting, Reflecting so I can carry it as a theme throughout my days. The exercises challenge one to write with Bailey Book ‘Writing Short Stories’. A top class read and top class education which should lead to top class thinking writing wise.

Current Count:( 37)Books Current Read (Fields of Reading Science pages )
Paper/s Read (downloaded qaulity INTUTE ) Podcasts listening/ed to (Radio 4, From our own Correspondent, China and Globalization, Rivers of Africa I feel Podcast heavy and need a rest 7×1.30hrs per Public Lecture +Q&A)
LIBRARY BOOKS ON LOAN?? ( 4 too much!)Library Books Due Date (28 Sept 2007 )

This guy has listened to 400-500 hours of Podcasts and feels it is equivalent of exposure* on a Masters Degree. I think he makes an important point and understands the key role Academic Podcasts* can play in a persons life.
I myself could not live without them although I desperately need a Music Entertainment Centre to run alongside perhaps Novels etc too!
Amazon DVD Rental now started to get me on the right lines. It will be a gradual transformation>
